PRLog (Press Release) – Aug 12, 2008 – Since being crowned, Melissa has been busy promoting her platform “Dare to Dream”, building self-confidence in people, motivating them to believe in themselves and their dreams. She has been a guest speaker at many community events such as the American
Cancer Societies Relay for Life Fundraisers, the Weaverville 4th of July celebration and at various high school classes, churches and women’s clubs. She has worked with many charities helping to raise over $3500 for the Stars of Hope charity which benefits children. She has enjoyed visiting with the veterans at the VA Hospital and also visiting with the residents of Aston Park Health Center. Melissa has been interviewed on several radio stations promoting her platform and various charities. Several of her appearances have been shown on WLOS channel 13. One of these television appearances show her throwing out the 1st pitch at an Asheville Tourist baseball game. She has recently made commercials for Carolina Furniture Concepts. As a member of Kiwanis International, a global organization that serves the children of the world, Melissa traveled to Montego Bay, Jamaica this summer where she ministered to the children in the orphanages and in their communities. For the next year, during her reign as Miss North Carolina International, Melissa plans to encourage everyone to pursue his or her goals and dreams.
