Miss North Carolina - PR Student Wins Miss NC International Crown

PR STUDENT WINS MISS NC INTERNATIONAL CROWN
By Mark Beatty

Miss North Carolina International, Melissa Chambers is currently a junior majoring in Communication. After attaining an associate‘s degree in the arts from Asheville Buncombe Technical Community College near her hometown she transferred to NC State.
Chambers placed in the top five in Miss Asheville America and then was named second runner up in the Miss Western N.C. pageant. Her crowning victory came this April when she won the Miss North Carolina International Pageant. Chambers did not enter pageants until she was 18. She started entering pageants to make a difference in the lives of young girls, which shines through on her platform of Dare to Dream. Believing in yourself and never giving up on your dreams are the underlying principles.
She hopes to continue making a difference after she surrenders her title in February of next year. When she graduates in 2010, she wants to parlay her achievements into becoming a spokesmodel. Chambers is very down to earth, and when she‘s not wearing her crown, she claims to be a jeans and T-shirt kind of girl.
