PUSH ASHEVILLE FASHION – Local Runway Fashion Show in Asheville
March 2, 2009 – Phi Beta Lambda at AB Tech is announcing the launch of “Push Asheville Fashion,” a promotional campaign to support local businesses and designers at a not-for-profit event that will showcase the best local talent in Asheville along with an over the top Asheville runway fashion show. The show will take place Friday March 27, 2009 starting at 9:00 pm at the renowned venue, The Garage at Biltmore, and will feature designers, boutique representatives, and musicians all of whom are locally based. Both local and regional press is invited to cover the event.In addition to being a unique opportunity for local fashion designers, the event promises to attract local fashion and music enthusiasts and stunning runway models.

North CarolinaStateUniversity introduced the latest in cotton fashion at the "Collection 2009: Cotton Couture" fashion show. A collaboration between NC State's College of Textiles and Cotton Incorporated, the show highlighted high-fashion clothing – made of 75 to 100 percent cotton.The show was head January 15th.
Eighteen designers were featured at REdress Raleigh March 14th. The mission of REdress Raleigh fashion show is to spread the word about eco-friendly designers, showing that “green” is in all aspects of life, including fashion. REdress Raleigh was co-produced by Triangle Emerging Green Builders, American Vintage, and MorLove and will be a part of the Hillsborough Street Renaissance put together by Legacy Event Planners.

Melissa Marie Chambers is looking forward to transferring as a junior to N.C. State University in August where she will be majoring in Public Relations. She is excited about the many opportunities that await her by going to N.C. State and living in Raleigh, our State Capitol. For the next year as Miss North Carolina, she will be promoting her platform “Dare to Dream” building self-confidence in people, motivating them to believe in themselves and their dreams. She plans to encourage everyone to pursue his or her goals and dreams until those goals and dreams become a reality.
As a member of Kiwanis International, a global organization that serves the children of the world, Melissa is able to reach out and encourage the community to dream big by speaking at different places from schools and youth groups to clubs and health facilities. In July, she has been given the opportunity to go to Montego Bay, Jamaica on a Missions Trip to minister to the children in the orphanages and in their communities. She has volunteered at the ABCCM Womens Shelter, the Brian Center and as a teacher for young girls in the Missionettes Program at her church.
Melissa has excelled academically while in college making the Dean’s List, President’s List and won 1st place in the Mens/Womens Open Tennis Tournament. She can be described as active, ambitious and outgoing. She enjoys playing tennis, running and spending time with family and friends.
